Anita Chavez Garcia, 72, went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Tuesday afternoon, March 26, 2002. She was born in Parkview, NM to Ruben and Ester Martinez Chavez on June 10, 1929. Preceding Anita in death are her parents; her twin infant sons, John and Joseph; her brother, Frank Chavez; and sister, Rebecca Lucero. She is survived by her soul mate of 55 years her husband, Antonio; her sons and their wives, Anthony Herman and Mary Lou Garcia of Aurora, CO, James and Roberta Garcia of Farmington, and George and Tammy Garcia of Albuquerque; her daughters and their husbands, Esther and Henry Rivera of Albuquerque, Eva and John Higgins of Santa Rosa and Jackie and Bill Canon of Aztec; and her two sisters, Cordy Mestas of Alamosa, CO and Angie Cantu of Taos. She will also be missed by her 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Aztec on Monday, April 1, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Joe Blonski, Celebrant. Interment will be at the family cemetery in Parkview. The family will remember their mother as being the world's best mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec, (505) 334-9332.
