Obituary for Skipworth

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday March 31, 2002

Jimmie Luciel Skipworth. I lived a good life. I understand life on earth was a cycle with a beginning and an end. I started my journey January 6, 1919 in Brownwood Texas and completed it on March 29, 2002 in my home surrounded by my loving family. I was the first born of Ora Lee Wicker Skipworth and Roy B, Skipworth. In 1922 we moved to a ranch near Dunlap NM 35 miles SW of Fort Sumner. My best friend and brother, Roy W. (Buddy) Skipworth, who died April 5, 1945 in WWII. We rode our horses wildly over the eastern plains of New Mexico like we owned every piece of land we crossed. I had another brother who I treated as if he were my very own, I loved him so -Kay Lee Skipworth of Portales, NM. Last but not least my sweet baby sister, Sarah Joan (Sue) Foster of Taos, NM. I had a time to have a family of my own with my true love and husband, Ralph Raymond Davies. My son, Col. Daniel R. Perry US Army, Ret. And wife, Irene of San Antonio, TX; Daughters, Linda Luciel Brooks and husband, David, Mary Iris Racicot, BeckyLin Tejada, Barbra Gene Whitaker and husband, Stan, all of the Albuquerque area. There is a part of me each of them. I had time to be with all of my grandchildren, Alan R. Perry, Cindy Kazala, Tammy Briscoe, Sean Brooks, JD Racicot, Angie Calbert, Kaylee and Tomi Lin Tejeda, Savannah and Abbey Whitaker; great-grandkids, Ashley Loveless, Jaushua Brisco, Jason Patrick Wallen and Patricia Calbert. I was blessed with many nieces and nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws, and friends that I loved so much. I had time to work a Sears and Roebuck, hook rugs, hunt for arrow heads, read, play the piano, be a charter member of Asbury UMC (where I served as president of the WSCS), served as president of Batan Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, do my crossword puzzles, travel help Ralph build a cabin on Grass Mountain, and live in our home near Stanley, New Mexico. And now it is time for me to go. I reunite with those I love, my mom, dad, brother, and brother-in-law. I had time to be Jimmie, Grammie, Aunt Jimmie, and Mom, all with the dignity and grace that God provided me. I extend a special thanks to Dr. Jeffery Sollins, Resa Schreffler CMT and Cathy Lovato, RN (Hospice). Pallbearers will be: StanWhitaker, David Brooks, Sean Brooks, Alan Perry, Kaylee Tejada, and JD Racicot. In lieu of flowers the family wishes contributions be made to Presbyterian Hospice, 8100 Constitution Pl. NE Suite 120 Alb. NM, 87110. Services will be held Monday, April 1, 2002, 3:00 p.m. at St. Johns United Methodist Church 2626 Arizona NE with Pastor Terry Milford officiating. Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. at church.
