Loftis Argile Bell, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1934 passed away, Saturday, March 30, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margie Bell, son, Louis R. Bell and wife, Elaine of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Jane E. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters including his brother, E."Shorty" Bell who passed away a week before Loftis. He was well known among automotive car dealers in Albuquerque as he was employed throughout the years with Ford, Chevrolet and Buick as parts clerk and parts manager. When Pearl Harbor was attacked, December 7, 1941, he accepted a civil service appointment with the War Department, Ogden Air Depot, Hill Field, Ogden, UT. A year later health reasons brought us back to Albuquerque. Several months later, he went to work at Kirtland Air Force Base. In military service during World War II, Loftis remained at Kirtland until the war ended. He was active in church organizations and the Albuquerque Choral Club but his real joy and most proud time was spent as a member of the State of New Mexico Mounted Patrol. Upon his first retirement, he and his wife were managers of an A&W Root Beer Restaurant in El Paso, TX, owned by their son and his wife. Later, for over ten years, he was employed as a Security Officer at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK. After returning home to Albuquerque in 1986, he was employed at the Montebello, a Marriott Senior Living Community as a Security Officer. Finally, Loftis really retired at 80 years of age and they enjoyed their home in The Meadows. Our family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care given to our loved one by the team of professionals and to all who worked in the Palliative Care Unit at the Veterans Hospital, the doctors and nurses of the VA Clinic, and the Delta Hospice group. Loved ones, friends, and especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will miss their loving Papa.
