Obituary for Payne

Dorothy R."Tillie" Payne, 68, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Thursday, April 4, 2002 following a brief, courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Orville"Teenie," Payne ; daughters, Vicki Martinez and husband, Jeff, of Espanola, Christy Bridges and husband, Rocky, of Farmington and Bridget Payne of Los Lunas; sons, Richard Payne and Gene Montoya and Timothy"Tim" Payne and wife, Michelle, all of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Moreland and husband, Wendell, of Romney WV and Virginia Mae Minshell, and husband, Bernard, of Keyser, WV; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Tillie was born Thursday, November 2, 1933 to George W. and Thelma L. Davis in Romney, WV. She married"Teenie" Payne on December 26, 1953 and spent the next 21 years as a career military wife and homemaker raising their five children. Tillie and Teenie retired in 1973 to Albuquerque having traveled across the country many times and to France for a two-year tour of duty. She was an avid San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins fan. She also loved to read her books and play cards with her family. Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2002, 4:00 p.m., French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Chaplain Paul Gleason officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Memorial Foundation, c/o Sandia Hospice, 4725 Indian School Rd. NE, Albuquerque, 87110
