Obituary for Trujillo

Mr. Pete Trujillo, 88, born November 14, 1913 in Willard, New Mexico passed away on May 8, 2002 peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family. Mr. Trujillo was the son of the late Luis and Mercedes Trujillo. Mr. Trujillo is survived by his five children, Betty Mc Neill and husband, Don, Louis Trujillo and wife, Bea, Bill Trujillo and wife, Sharon, Theresa Saiz and husband, Louis, Mercy Baca and husband, Trinidad; two sisters, Florinda Galaz and Mary Gutierrez; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Trujillo is preceded in death by his wife, Jennie. They were married On April 23, 1934 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isleta, N.M.; by two grandchildren, Joseph and Cathy; four sisters, Lena, Lucinda, Beatrice and Regina; and by one brother, Louie Trujillo. Mr. Trujillo was a member of the Catholic Church, was employed by Babe's Grocery Store, Arturo's Texaco Service Station, Schwartzman's Packing Co., Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, Santa Fe Railroad, Orange Crush Bottling Co. Mr. Trujillo retired from 7up Bottling Co. after 35 years of service. He was a Bailiff in District Court under District Judge Joseph Baca and Harry Blackmer. Mr. Trujillo was very active in his community of Los Padillas; Precinct Chairman and Committeeman of Precinct 6, President of Los Padillas United Community Improvement Association; Member of Los Padillas Elementary School Advisory Committee; he was very active in the Ascension Parish Catholic Community, President of the Holy Name Society and Parish Counsil, Pastoral Council Member and a Lay Minister; he was active in the Knights of Columbus, Member of Coucil 641, Held several chair offices including Grand Knight, was a member of several Ceremonial Teams; Member of Father A.M. Mandelari 4th Degree Assembly, was a former Master of the 4th Degree and held several State and District Chair Offices; Pete only had five years of formal education, because he had to seek employment at the age of 12, in order to help his mother support their family. He was a"self" educated man and obviously very successful! Comment from Bill Trujillo,"I always thought that one of Dad's greatest traits was how humble a man he was. I don't think he ever sought praise, just respect. He never talked about his accomplishments, just praised others." A viewing for Mr. Trujillo will be Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Bea Trujillo. A final viewing will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Ascension with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Anthony Bolman and Monsignor Fred Stadtmueller. Interment will follow at the Los Padillas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Trini Moya PFN/FS, George Martinez PSD/FN, Ray Wright GK/DD, Jose M. Valdez Jr. FM, Willie Miera PDD/FM and Mel Jaramillo PSD/M. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Tomas Yanes and all Pete's grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Presbyterian Hospice. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW in charge of the arrangements.
