Obituary for Mills

Lorene Hartley Mills died May 13, 2002. Lorene was born February 24, 1918, to Plumis Burdine Hartley and Martha Paradine (Potts) Hartley of Hollene, NM. Lorene was a public school teacher having taught at Claud, Artesia and Texico. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society for women educators. She supported her husband of 64 years, Vernon R. Mills, retired Clovis and Artesia school superintendent. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Clovis where she sang in the choir. Vernon and Lorene recently moved from Clovis to Albuquerque where they have resided at the Woodmark Uptown assisted living facility. She is survived by her husband, Vernon; one brother, Earl Hartley of El Paso; son, Sidney Lane Mills and wife, Sylvia of Albuquerque; daughter, Jackie and husband, Don Hodges of Clovis, daughter, Pam and husband, Jeff Baum of Clovis; son, Rodney Mills and wife, Susan of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren, Marquesa Fedastion and husband, Steve of Colorado Springs, CO; Kim Mills of Albuquerque; Kris Mills and wife, Nicole of Albuquerque; Brock Hodges of Canyon, TX; Camron Baum and wife, Kim of Ignacio, CO; Shana Jennings and husband, Greg of Clovis; Camille Mills of Lubbock, TX; six great-grandchildren, Eric Fedastion of Colorado Springs; Natasha and Miquela Mills of Albuquerque; Tiana Baum of Clovis and Bailey Baum of Ignacio, CO; and Eric Jennings of Clovis. Memorial services will be at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE with Rev. Clyde Stanfield officiating. St. John's services will be held Thursday, May 16 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place later at Hollene Cemetery north of Clovis, NM. Arrangements are with Muffley's Funeral Home of Clovis.
