Obituary for Elder

Alberta Mae Elder, age 82, of Bernalillo, New Mexico passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2002. Alberta was born on September 7, 1919 to the late Elmer and Marguarite Fillhart Marsh. Alberta was preceded in death by her loving husband Earle F. Elder to whom she married September 6, 1940. She was also preceded in death by two of her children, a daughter, Carrieann Stanton Canon, son, Dean Earle Elder; and one brother, Lester G. Marsh. Alberta is survived by her daughter, Roberta M. Nicholson and husband, Franklin of Bernalillo, N.M. Alberta and Earle moved back to Bernalillo, NM. from Roswell, NM. in 1997 to live closer to their daughter. She is also survived by her sisters, Vereine Runk of Coeur d' Alene, ID., B. Kay Henneman and husband, Richard of Charlotte, NC.; one brother, Dr. Dean Marsh and wife, Margaret"Peg" of Belen, NM.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Alberta did volunteer work and was a talented seamstress and avid gardener winning many ribbons and awards over the years. She was a docent of the Southeastern Historical Society in Roswell. NM and was a Past President of American Legion Auxiliary Post 247, Lowellvi11e, OH. Cremation has taken place and it was Alberta's wishes that no services be held. In lieu of flowers Alberta requested that donations in her name be made to; Southeastern Historical Society 200 North Lea Street Roswell, NM 88202.
