Willis E. "Bill" Johnston, Jr., 87, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, May 31, 2002. He is survived by his daughter, Virginia L. Hawthorn and husband, Thomas L. of Roseville, CA; grandsons, Brian Keith Johnston and wife, Kathy and Tony Romero and wife, Pam; granddaughter, Trish ¯Ginny¯ Peabody and husband, Woody; and seven great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mildred and son Willis E. ¯Butch¯ Johnston, III. Mr. Johnston graduated from UNM in 1941. He served his country during WWII in the US Army. Mr. Johnston was an electrical engineer at Sandia National Labs for many years. Cremation has taken place and private family services will take place at a later date.
