Obituary for Schultheis

Peter W. Schultheis, 54, beloved father and grandfather passed away unexpectedly May 27, 2002. An unforgettable man of uncompromised integrity and loyalty, Pete touched the lives of many. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to Edward and Edna Schultheis, Pete was brought up with strong fortitude and values. With a strong sense of justice and high expectations, Pete never asked for more than he was willing to give. Pete lived his life giving selflessly to those he loved. Drafted during the Vietnam War, Pete received an honorable discharge and moved to New Jersey to raise his young family. Inn 1979, the Schultheis family became residents of New Mexico. Through all of Pete's trials and tribulations he was an inspiration to all who knew him. An indomitable spirit, Pete was full of life and wisdom. A witty and clever conversationalist, all of Pete's stories started with what hot rod he was driving at the time. Pete served as Service Director at Ed Black's Chevrolet until 1992 during which time he was awarded an honorary degree from San Juan College for his expertise and his role in developing their automotive degree program After the closing of Ed Black's , Peter and his son opened Pro Automotive in Cedar Crest. Here his creativity aligned with his love of classic cars. East Mountain residents will remember Pete for his award winning 1936 Chevy pick-up truck and the 1937 Chevy Tow truck. Bicyclists on North 14 fear no more! His parents and his brother, Eddie, both of New York precede Pete in death. He is survived by the love of his life and former wife of 30 years, Margaret and by; his children, Jennifer and Rocco, who will proudly carry on the Schultheis name. Also surviving is; his beloved daughter-in-law, Tonya and the joy of his life; grandsons, Ryan and Andrew. Arrangements and cremation have been done by French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd.
