Obituary for Neeley

O. Nelson Neeley, 83, a 43-year resident of Albuquerque, a loving Husband, Father, and grandfather, passed away, Sunday, June 16, 2002. Nelson was born in Pleasantville, OH, May 26, 1919. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Hazel; son, Greg and wife, Kathy; grandsons, Devin and Ryan of Farmington; sister, Betty Wilson of Pleasantville, OH; and many nieces and nephews. Nelson was retired from AT&T after 41 years of service in 1983 in Colorado and New Mexico. He was active on local Masonic Lodges and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a longtime member of St. John's United Methodist Church. He enjoyed a lifelong love of travel. Hazel and Nelson enjoyed many trips in and outside of the U.S. His grandchildren were always a sparkle in his eye,"Papa" enjoyed watching them grow and learn. Nelson will long be remembered for his sense of duty to all he knew. His sense of family and the respect and care for their well-being will be greatly missed. Services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2002, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Rev. Charlie Price and Rev. Jim Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Rick Herrington, Doug McVicker, Pat Affholter, Jerry Giles, Jeff Gregory, and Carl Sickenga. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Wednesday, June 19, 2002, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity or organization in his name.
