Obituary for Ronayne

John James Ronayne. On Monday, June 10, 2002, John James Ronayne, longtime resident of Albuquerque, N.M. passed away at Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side. John was born on July 24, 1928, only son to John Francis and Johanna Mary Ronayne of Boston, MA. On June 18, 1949, while serving in the U.S. Army, John married Mary Jane Giddings. Upon his discharge from the service, John and Mary settled in Albuquerque, N.M., where they raised two children, Nancy Ann Stanfill and John R. Ronayne. John Sr. worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for a few years and then began a career with the Albuquerque Journal and Tribune. He worked for the paper for 25 years in the circulation department and in security where he retired in 1983. John was an avid lover of old cars and was active in the Veterans Motor Car Club of America for many years, touring with his two antique cars he had restored himself. He came to live in Asotin, WA. with his daughter after the passing of his wife of 50 years. John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jane; his son, John R. Ronayne; and his granddaughter, Elise Flemming. He is survived by his only daughter, Nancy Ann Stanfill; his much loved mother-in-law, Ms. Melva Jane Giddings of Grants, N.M; his granddaughter, Johanna Krieger, of Kamiah, ID; his granddaughter, Colleen Smith of Mesa, AZ; and five great-grandchildren. John's remains will be taken back to Albuquerque for interment with his wife. Melva and Nancy would also like to thank all the friends and neighbor who have helped so much in the past few months.
