Sammy Hank Marr, age 77, passed away quietly at Lovelace Hospital at 1:30 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2002 after a long battle with prostate cancer. Sammy was an immigrant from China who arrived in the USA when he was nine years old. He became a US citizen and worked for the USAF Civil Service for 39 years, starting out as a custodian and eventually acquiring a law degree and achieving the rank of GS-12, then retiring in 1986 from Kirtland AFB. He was much loved and will be missed dearly by his wife, Irma; his son, Ron and his two children, Brian and Ben; his son, Jerry and wife, Mila of Los Angeles; his daughter, Debbie La Pierre and her husband, Chris; his daughter, Brenda Guzman and her husband, Gabe of Boston; and longtime family friend, Due Moore III of Bosque Farms. Cremation and arrangements are being made by the Sunrise Society of New Mexico, 2111 Wyoming NE in Albuquerque, 891-2000. It was his wish that no Services be held. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
