Obituary for Orr

William Robert"Bob" Orr, 86, died on June 22, 2002 in Albuquerque. A former Albuquerque resident who recently moved back to the city to live with his son, Charles and wife, Wendy, Bob had lived in Alamogordo, NM for 46 years. Born to Presbyterian missionaries in Puerto Rico in 1916, Bob lived in Colorado and New Mexico as a child. After attending college in Kansas and Colorado, he served as an officer in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He flew many missions as a B-25 navigator in the Solomon, Gilbert, and Marshall Islands of the South Pacific. In 1944, in Ft. Lupton, CO, he married his beloved wife, the former Marion Scott, who died in 1989. An avid stamp collector and music lover, Bob worked as a Real Estate Broker and also in the furniture and hardware business during his 37 year civilian career. He was a member and former deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Alamogordo. He is survived by his sister, Betty Wilson and husband, David of Nampa, ID; and his children, Judith L. Lotz and William Dennison of Falls Church, VA, Charles W. and Wendy Orr of Albuquerque and David R. and Mary Jane Orr of Plano, TX. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Karen Lotz of Arlington, MA, Jesse, Jennifer, and John Orr of Albuquerque, Brennan Orr of Plano, TX, Kevin Orr of Amarillo, TX, Cara Collier of San Francisco, CA and David Collier of Austin, TX. Bob's surviving nieces and nephews are Dan and Tempra Wilson of Boise, ID, Brennon and Lee Ann Orr of Idaho Falls, ID, Dick and Jackie Orr of Albuquerque, Elizabeth and Chris Shirey of Albuquerque, Mary Ann and Jeff Terrell of Texas and Carole and Jeff Wheeler of Valencia, CA. Bob was predeceased by his parents, the Rev. William M. and Eula D. Orr; and his brother, the Rev. John M. Orr and wife, Faymae, who were all longtime New Mexico residents. Bob will be greatly missed by all his family and friends, including Linda Stoller Yates of Artesia, Darrel Lotz of Laurel, MD and John McMillen of Arlington, MA. Bob will be interred in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Humane Animal Association of New Mexico or the American Lung Association.
