Obituary for Turbett

William W. Turbett, 84, died July 1, 2002 after a lengthy bout with cancer. Born in Bayonne, NJ, he was a highly decorated combat Veteran in WWII. Following his military service, he moved to Albuquerque in 1953 to begin what would be a 40 year career as an insurance company executive. Bill and his wife of almost 50 years, Cynthia, were charter members of the Tennis Club of Albuquerque, and were very active there until Cynthia's death in 1996. Mr. Turbett is survived by his four children, son, Peter Turbett and his wife, Marsha of Houston Texas, son, Thomas Turbett of Albuquerque, daughter, Anne Turbett, M.D. of Las Cruces, and daughter, Nancy Turbett of Albuquerque. He is also survived by one grandson, Teddy Turbett, of Houston. The family would also like to acknowledge Deb Boehme, a family friend who provided much care and comfort over the years. Burial will take place in a Private Family Ceremony at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, but the family would like to invite Bill's many friends to join them in a celebratory wake to be held in his memory on Thursday, July 11, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Independent Insurance Agents of NM Building, 1511 University Blvd. NE in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the Animal Humane Association of NM/ 615 Virginia NE/ Albuquerque, NM/ 87108.
