Ivan H. Gillett, 86, a resident of Sandia Park, NM since 1957, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002. Ivan was born in Eaton Rapids, MI to Herbert and Emmaline Gillett in 1915. He graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in 1933. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1935. Ivan married June Carpenter in 1936. He retired from the Navy in 1956 as a Lieutenant Commander. Ivan was employed by the Sandia National Laboratories as a Staff Associate in the Weaponry Department for 21 years, retiring in 1978. He leaves his loving wife of 66 years, June; daughter, Carolyn McBane and husband, Robert, of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Margy Scales, and husband Stephen, of Colorado Springs, CO; son, John Gillett and wife, Elaine, of Estancia, NM; daughter, Kathleen Esquibel and husband, Arthur, of Albuquerque, NM; son, Daniel Gillett and wife, Katherine of Albuquerque, NM; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald Gillett and wife, Lillian, of Eaton Rapids, MI. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranches, Inc., PO Box 9, Belen, NM, 87002.
