Obituary for Ferguson

Ruth Eden Ferguson, age 82, died Monday, July 15, 2002 in Montrose, CO after a losing battle with cancer. Ruth was born on March 23, 1920 in Chicago, IL, later moved to Barton, NM and attended school in Stanley, NM. She lived most of her adult life in Albuquerque where she worked as manager for HUD Housing Projects and helped her daughter at Montrose Beauty College in Rio Rancho. She also worked as an oral surgeon's nurse with Kiwanis children's projects while living in Medford, OR. Ruth was a social butterfly and a lady of grace and elegance. When she entered a room, her presence was known by all. Often at weddings, graduations or birthday parties, she was the center of attention. She loved her family, her friends and all those people that she adopted into her life. She was a good neighbor, always there with a helping hand or a plate of deviled eggs. She loved to play cards and travel. After retirement she enjoyed working with other seniors at Wells Fargo Bank. Ruth was a lifelong member of the Solo Club, VFW Post 49 Auxiliary, Eastern Star and Soroptimist Club. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ferguson; a sister, Katherine Morris; a brother, Leo Eden; and both parents, Ben and Bernice Eden. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Ellie Rouhier and husband, Jim of Montrose, CO; a brother, Gordon Eden and wife, Charlotte of Albuquerque; her grandchildren, John Rouhier of Central Point, OR, David Anderson of San Diego, CA, Connie Anderson of Olathe, CO, Tim Rouhier of Medford, OR, Adriana Montoya of San Diego, CA, Terri Holman of Montrose, CO, Shelly Vetkos of Delta, CO and Brian Whilite of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002 at Chapel of Sandia, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5800 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110."Ruth instilled family values in each and everyone she touched that we all hold dear to our hearts.
