Obituary for Quevedo

Manuel Quevedo, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1984, coming to New Mexico from Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2002. Manuel was born May 1, 1924 the son of Joe and Martha Garcia Quevedo in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He served in the US Army, and was a decorated WW II Veteran of the Normandy invasion. After the war, he married his sweetheart, Ramona. In 1983 he retired from Swifts and Company after 37 years. That is when he and Ramona came to New Mexico. Manuel enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and other sports and outdoor activities. He was an avid University of Nebraska Cornhusker football fan, and was active with the Little League Baseball. He also enjoyed working and making friends through his neighborhood lawn service. Manuel was a member of the American Legion, VFW, the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. Manuel loved spending time with his grandchildren. His is preceded in death by one sister, Rachel Longoria. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ramona of Albuquerque; three daughters, Bernadette Quevedo-Mendoza of Denver, CO, Claudia Quevedo-Levesque of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and Stacy Quevedo of Albuquerque; four sons, Marco Quevedo of Denver, CO, Ennio Quevedo of Washington, DC, Phillip Quevedo of Denver, CO, and Tracy Quevedo of Albuquerque; four brothers, Frank Quevedo of Forest Falls, CA, Joe Quevedo of Scottsbluff, NE, and Lawrence Quevedo of Phoenix, AZ and Salvador Quevedo of Scottsbluff, NE; four sisters, Concha Rodrigues of Scottsbluff, NE, Josephine Quevedo of Denver, CO, Socorro Lopez of Scottsbluff, NE; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Olivia and Marcus Quevedo of Denver, CO, Vicente and Mario Quevedo of Albuquerque, Carlos Quevedo of Concord, CA, and Gabriela Quevedo-Levesque of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Rosary was recited Friday evening, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 20, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with The Rev. John Conway as the Celebrant. Interment will be in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ryan Quevedo, Vicente Quevedo, Mario Quevedo, Ray Mendoza, Pascal Levesque and David Medina. Military Honors will be presented by the New Mexico Honor Guard. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho, 892-9920.
