Obituary for Van Deusen

Wright Van Deusen passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 20, 2002. He was born in Albuquerque August 18, 1929 to Wright and Katharine Van Deusen. He graduated from UNM, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and Editor of the Daily Lobo. He then served in the Navy and returned to Albuquerque as a sports writer for the Tribune. He found his career at Sandia National Laboratories, where he worked in the field of classification for 29 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Creager and husband, Kenneth of Kenmore, WA; son, Stuart Van Deusen and wife, Patricia of Albuquerque; three grandsons, Ian Van Deusen, Kyle Creager and Ryan Creager; and best friend, Betsy Schultz. Wright loved his family and was proud of his grandsons. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home and fishing and camping in the New Mexico mountains. He was a kind, caring and considerate person who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Services will be held Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald & Sons Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Wright's memory to Cure Autism Now, 5455 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 715, Los Angeles, CA 90036.
