Obituary for Gutierrez

Reinaldo (Ray) D. Gutierrez, age 59, a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Tuesday, July 23, 2002, while surrounded by his loving family. Ray was a life long resident of Albuquerque; a parishioner of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; a United States Army Veteran; and member of the American Legion Post 69. Ray enjoyed working with horses; he was a musician; but, the joy of his life were his children and grandchildren. He married the love of his life, Jeanette Sena on November 3, 1962 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Ray will always be remembered by his sensitive but, humorous nature, he was a loving and caring man. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Gutierrez; father in law, Miguel Sena; a brother, Bobby Gutierrez; and a brother in law Benny Garcia. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Jeanette Gutierrez of the family home; his wonderful children, Ray Gutierrez and wife Margie, Stephen Gutierrez and wife Lorina all of Albuquerque, Frances Velarde and husband Rick of Farmington, NM, and Barbara Del Curto and husband Bryan of Rio Rancho; his precious grandchildren, Deanna, Derrick, Robert, Jonathan, Nicole, Ivan, Nathan, Christopher, Jonathan, Chubbers; and one great-grandson, Ethan. Also surviving are his mother, Rosario Gutierrez; six brothers; six sisters; his mother in law, Lola Sena; and numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Ray will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. On behalf of the Gutierrez family they wish to express their sincere appreciation to all those whom cared and loved Ray enough to be part of his life. May God bless each and every one of you. Final viewing will be this morning from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted this morning at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Benito Garcia, Paul Martinez, Tommy Garcia, Joe Gurule, Jason Schoolcraft, and Anthony Garcia. Honorary bearers will be all his grandchildren. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 69 Honor Guard. Funeral Services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th Street NW. 898-3160.
