Obituary for Nieto

Edward T. Nieto, born February 12, 1924, went home to be with the Lord July 29, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia of 48 years. Staff Sergeant Edward T. Nieto was a proud Veteran of the U.S.M.C. from 1943 - 1946. He fought in Iwo Jima and was proud of the two Marines who came after him. His son, Sergeant Larry Nieto who fought in Vietnam and a grandson, Corporal Eddie Garcia who served in Iraq. He worked for the Southern Union Gas Co. for 33 years where he made numerous friends and acquaintances, and was known for his great sense of humor and good nature. He leaves behind a legacy of children, son, Robert Petit and wife, Teresa; daughter, Lillian Garcia and husband, George, sons, Alex Nieto, Edward Nieto Jr. and wife, Rosario, son, Larry Nieto and wife, Connie, daughter, Annie Trujillo and husband, Robert, daughter, Sophie Trujillo and husband, Steve, son, Charlie Nieto, daughter, Debbie Sanchez and husband, David all of Albuquerque; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dora Garcia of Albuquerque; two brothers, Arturo Nieto of Albuquerque and Frank Nieto and wife, Risa of Los Angeles, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be held at San Ignacio Church,1300 Walter NE, 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2002. Mass for burial will be held on August 2, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at San Ignacio Church. Following Mass, his ashes will be scattered in the Rose Garden at Vista Verde Cemetery.
