Thomas Daniel McCarthy, Jr., 63, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1985, passed away unexpectedly from an accident on Sunday, August 4, 2002. Thomas was born March 12, 1939 the son of Thomas Daniel and Margaret Neder McCarthy, Sr. in Hicksville, New York. He was a Project Superintendent with the Bradbury & Stamm Construction Company. Tom was a member of the Hicksville (NY) Volunteer Fire Department, member of the International Association of Contractors, was in the US Marines Reserves, and he was also a balloon pilot and ballooning enthusiast. Tom is survived by his wife, Maureen M. McCarthy of the family home; children, Thomas Daniel McCarthy,III, of Moyock, NC, Donna Carey of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Timothy J. McCarthy and wife, Robin of Seattle, WA, Wayne M. McCarthy and wife, Luchilla of Rio Rancho, NM, and Bradley Janes of Rio Rancho, NM; one sister, Kathleen Clark of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one brother, Richard McCarthy of London, England; seven grandchildren, Meaghan McCarthy, Liam McCarthy, Matthew Reed, Samantha McCarthy, David Johnson, Angel Boush, and Thomas Daniel McCarthy, IV; one great-grandchild, Michael Johnson; other survivors include, mother-in-law, Mildred Hoeffner of Largo, FL; brother-in-law, Joseph"Hobo" Hoeffner of Rio Rancho, NM; two sisters-in-law, Donna and Nancy; and a dedicated crew of employees. The Visitation will be held today, Thursday, August 8, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, with the Service on Friday, August 9, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary with Pastor Bob Guido officiating.
