Obituary for Padilla

Elsie Chavez Padilla, 74, a longtime resident of Bernalillo, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2002, peacefully to be with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Elsie was loved by many and will be deeply missed. She was a very kind, gentle and loving woman. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to do for others all she could. Although Elsie was an only child, she had several close relatives and friends who she loved very much and considered them as part of her immediate family. Elsie will always be remembered for her fabulous cooking, especially her award-winning"Red Chili". She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Placida Chavez; her son, Ernie Padilla; and most recently, her husband of 55 years, Alfredo Padilla. Elsie is survived by three sons, Johnny Padilla and wife, Sylvia, Fred Padilla and wife, Nadine, and Michael Padilla; her grandchildren, Jeff Padilla and companion, Isabel, Chris Padilla, Steven Padilla and Diana Padilla; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Marcus, Chris, Destiny and Shantell Padilla. Elsie was a very strong and courageous woman. She was our hero and will always be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. Rosary will be recited Friday, August 16, 2002, at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 17, 2002, at 9:00 a.m., also at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Cremation will follow services. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
