Obituary for Wood

Martha Oveda Wood, 86, passed away on August 21, 2002. Oveda was born on August 10, 1916 in Lovington, NM. She was raised in Ardmore, OK and had lived in Albuquerque for the last 39 years. Oveda was an avid collector and maker of dolls. She loved crafting her beautiful creations and enjoyed being a member of the Sandia Doll Club for many, many years. Prior to retirement, Oveda spent her career as a retail sales clerk for women's apparel shops including J.C. Penney and Kistler-Collister Stores. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Wood; and daughter, Patti Brown. Oveda is survived by her son, Jerry Wood and his wife, Linda of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A graveside service for Oveda will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association of NM, 8100 Mountain Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Services under the care of Sunrise Funeral Options (891-9192).
