Obituary for Montano

Manuelita"Mela" Montano, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2002. Mela was born in El Paso, Texas, February 19, 1925 to Pedro and Olympia Lucero. She was a long time resident of Albuquerque, who moved to Phoenix and resided there for 25 years. She moved back to Albuquerque in November. She was a devout Catholic and devoted wife and mother who enjoyed her family. Mela had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to travel and was very single-minded and resourceful. She was blessed to have a very large extended family in the Southwest. Mela is preceded in death by; her husband, Bentura Montano; four brothers, Herman Lucero, Leandro Lucero, Victor Lucero, Horace Lucero; one god-son and nephew, Robert Lucero. Mela is survived by; her sister, Consuelo Meyer and husband, Julius; four brothers, Pete Lucero and wife, Bessie, Fred Lucero and wife, D'Aun, Julian Lucero and wife, Margie, Benjamin Lucero and wife, Mela; two sisters-in-law, Pita, and Fabiola; two sons, Raul Montano and wife, Jenny, Jorge Montano and wife, Janice; two daughters, Alma de Ana and husband, Scott, Marcielle Collier and husband, Sam; 11 grandchildren, Elisha and husband, Toby, Jennifer, Shane and wife, Kim, Andrea, Casey;, Ryan, Jeff and wife, Jennifer, Alyse, Morgan and David; five great-grandchildren, Mireya, Kyle, Sarvahna, Aniya, and Brandon; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Rosary will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Alameda on Monday, August 26, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, August 27 at 10:00 a.m.
