Obituary for Grado

Miguel L. Grado, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, surrounded by his family and friends passed away peacefully in is sleep on September 1, 2002 after a long illness.¯ Miguel is the beloved husband of 56 years to Josefina. Mr. Grado is also survived by his two daughters, Irma Grado and Patricia (Patty) Grado; a son, Rodolfo (Rudy) Miguel Grado and wife Janet; four grandchildren, Leonardo Wagener, Ian¯ Michael Anthony Grado, Matthew Aaron Isaac Grado and Sarah Fina Marie Grado. He is preceded in death by his loving daughter, Rosemary Grado. Mr. Grado was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church where he served his parish until his death. He was a member of the Parish Council, he sang with the Spanish Choir, was an usher for many years, was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII as a Seabee. Miguel is retired from Sandia/Kirtland where he worked as a firefighter for 25 years. Miguel was a plaster by profession. He was a master of his trade. Much of his work can still be seen in the Albuquerque/Los Alamos/El Paso areas, St. Joseph and Presbyterian Hospital, UNM. the Plaza Hotel and the Plaza Theater in El Paso, TX, just to name a few. A visitation for Mr. Grado will be Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Charlie Gallegos. A final visitation will be Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Daniel Balizan.¯ Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Leonard Wagener, Ian Michael Anthony Grado, Matthew Aaron Isaac Grado, Ramon Raul Grado, Ken Balaskovits and Moni Sanchez. Honorary pallbearer will be Charlie Gallegos. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Anne Cathoic Church, the church he supported and served for over 50 years or to Vista Care Hospice. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW in charge of the arrangements.
