Obituary for Stryker

Roy T."Buck" Stryker, 85, a resident of Albuquerque died Tuesday, September 10, 2002. He was born December 23, 1916 in Goree, TX. His family moved to Lubbock, TX where he graduated from Lubbock High School, Class of 1933, and then attended Texas Tech. He married Rubey Jean McLaughlin of Amarillo, TX on September 1, 1940. He served as a B-17 pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Upon returning from England, Buck and his brother, Lee, opened their first store in Albuquerque, Stryker Brothers. In 1952, he opened Stryco Sales, a wholesale floor-covering warehouse. Buck was a member of Central United Methodist Church since 1948. He was also a former member of the Albuquerque Country Club. Golf and fishing were two of his favorite pastimes. He is survived by his wife, Rubey Stryker of Albuquerque; nephews and nieces, Gerald Stryker and wife, Shirley and their three children, JoAnn Grandle and husband, Robert and their three children, Barbara Harrison and husband, Harold and their two children, all of Las Cruces, Karan Kennedy and husband, Barry and their daughter of Grapevine, TX, Patricia Stryker of Las Cruces, Frank McLaughlin and wife, Pat and their two children of Dallas, TX, Peggy Martin and husband, Bill and their two children of Corrales, Leslie Bradley and husband, Richard and their five children of Fairfax, VA, Patricia Thomas and husband, Ike and their two children of Granbury, TX, and Karen Frist and husband, Bill and three children, of Nashville, TN; and many friends. Services will be held Thursday, September 12, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Dr. Charles Crutchfield officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
