Daniel Arthur McClammy Jr., 59, has gone to join his parents Daniel Arthur, Sr. and Alice Marie Morin McClammy, on Friday, May 11, 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Kay McClammy, grandson William Autolycus McClammy-Kimbrough and his father Johnathan Kimbrough; and his sister Mary Mae McClammy, and cousin David Mickelson and family of Superior, MT; mother of his daughter, Winifred McClammy-Neiman and her husband Tom; three uncles Jim, George, and John McClammy of Poplar, MT, and uncle Willis McClammy of Tacoma, WA; aunt Dulcie McClammy and husband Ray Wolf; numerous cousins, and friends. Cremation has taken place and burial will take place at the McClammy family plot in Poplar, Montana on Saturday, September 21, 2002. Art was born in Poplar, Montana on April 24, 1942. After the death of our mother, aunt, Isabelle Morin and her husband, Thore Mickelson, raised us on a farm 30 miles north of Poplar. As a young boy growing up in eastern Montana, Art was a skinny, wiry kid who was susceptible to colds every winter. During that time, his health was always a concern because our Mother died from tuberculosis. When our cousin David"Sonny" and I were in school, Art entertained himself by playing cards. He enjoyed playing whist and the many different forms of solitaire. I remember him dealing four hands of whist and pretending to play with three friends - somehow his hand always won! By the age of five, he could play whist with the best of the card players but would give his hand away, when he had the ace of spades, by banging the card table with his leg. Art always had a nervous twitching leg! Art graduated from Flandreau Indian School in 1960. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Navy and was assigned to the USS Vegas during the Vietnam conflict. After completing his years of Navy service, he received an honorable discharge, and worked for a short period in New Orleans, LA. Then he moved to Washington, D.C. and began working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1964. A reorganization of the Financial Operations in D.C. had him transferred to the Albuquerque Operations Office in New Mexico where he pursued a career in computer programming until his retirement in 1994. During his stay in Albuquerque, Art met his wife, Winifred Jane Perrin. After 18 years of marriage, they divorced but remained friends. Art was an avid reader and took pleasure in watching television, which sparked an interest in him to learn bit actor/actresses names in the movies. For recreation, he took up bowling, golfing, fishing and hunting, he also enjoyed Chinese Checkers and making puzzles with thousands of pieces. His favorite professional football team was the Washington Redskins and he enjoyed watching all of their games with friends. Art was my baby brother and he always enjoyed receiving checks from me for his birthday. Although he always like to say I was 10 to 15 years older than him, I never minded it, because what can you expect from a kid brother? He should not have gone before me but I know he is home and doing well with mom, dad, his grandparents, and aunts and uncles. I love you and I will miss you- Mary McClammy.
