Obituary for Jackson

Dorothea Marie Jackson, 76, quietly passed away September 21, 2002 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Murray of Long Beach, CA; niece, Ms. Patricia Barlow of Dallas, TX; nephew, Hugh Barlow Jr. of Albuquerque; and a sole surviving aunt, Mrs. Dovie Washington of Albuquerque; also surviving are her cousins and two special friends, Mrs. Lovie Waites and Mrs. Patsy Givens Tryels. Dorothea was born January 1, 1926 in Austin, TX to Mr. Prince Barlow and Mrs. Precious Barlow both of whom precede her in death. Dorothea was also preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. Willie J. Jackson Jr.; and brother, Hugh Barlow Sr. Dorothea was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Dorothea's work life was spent as a business owner, bartender and entertainer. She was a member of Grant Chapel AME Church. Dorothea was a Daughter Elk in the Mahaliah Jackson Temple #1259 of the I. B. P. O. E. of the World in Albuquerque and held positions in the Antlered Guard Department. Visitation for Ms. Jackson is Wednesday, September 25, 2002, 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral Services are Thursday, September 26, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at Grant Chapel, 7920 Claremont NE with Rev. Delman E. Howard officiating. Members of I. B. P. O. E., Navajo Lodge No. 863 will serve as pallbearers. Mahaliah Jackson Temple #1259 will also participate in the funeral. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
