Obituary for Ulibarri

Viola Ulibarri, age 62, passed away September 25, 2002 at the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa. Viola was born July 11, 1940 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Isauro and Valeria Duran Martinez. She was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Viola married Manuel Ulibarri in 1955 in Santa Rosa. She worked as a chef in various restaurants in Santa Rosa such as the Del Rey Cafe, Silvermoon, La Fiesta, Shawford and the Sun and Sands. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Viola loved going to the Casinos, playing Bingo, going to Joseph's Restaurant for her daily glass of tea and spending time with her family and friends. Viola was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be truly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Gerald Eloy Ulibarri and Tim Ulibarri; her grandson, Little Leroy Ulibarri; and her brother, Jose I."Cho Cho" Martinez, Jr. Survivors include her husband, Manuel Ulibarri of the family home in Santa Rosa; her children, Anthony Martinez of Santa Rosa, Shirley Sena and husband, Faustin of Moriarty, Violet Abeyta and husband, Herman of Santa Rosa, Joann Gutierrez and husband, Gene of Albuquerque, Eileen Maestas and husband, Alvin of Santa Rosa, Thomas Ulibarri and wife, Frances of Santa Rosa, Leroy Ulibarri and wife, Yolanda of Albuquerque, Peter Ulibarri and wife, Eileen of Bernalillo, Matthew Ulibarii and wife, Emily of Santa Rosa, Corrine Chavez and husband, Erminio of Santa Rosa, Sylvia Gutierrez and husband, Jerry of Moriarty, Yolanda Acosta and husband, Diego of Amarillo, TX, Margaret Rodriquez and husband, Alfonso of Clovis and Angela Martinez and husband, Ted of Moriarty; her daughters-in-law, Viola E. Ulibarri of Santa Rosa and Rita Ulibarri of Bernal. Also surviving are her brothers, Thomas Martinez of Colorado Springs, CO, Pat Martinez and wife, Renida of Albuquerque and Horacio Martinez and wife, Diana of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Chris Sena and wife, Tina, Bernadette Abeyta and husband, Julian, Julie Abeyta, Jamie Gutierrez, Janelle Gutierrez, Jocelyn Gutierrez, Alvin Maestas, Jr., Amy Maests, Aaron Maestes, Timothy Ulibarri, Travis Ulibarri, Jennifer Ulibarri, Dustin Minton, Janice Ulibarri, Gerald Ulibarri, Manuel Ulibarri, Stephanie Romero, Marcelo Olguin, Leah Ulibarri, Emilio Ulibarri, Jackie Sierra and husband, Phillip, Eric Chavez and Renee, Yvette Jaramillo and husband Bruce, Ricky Gutierrez, Denise Marquez and husband Robert, Diego Acosta and wife, Patricia, Deanna Acosta, Stephen Rodriguez, Lawrence Rodriguez, Jennifer, Rodriguez, Andrea Rodriguez, Patricia Martinez and Teddy Martinez, Jr., and wife, Jessica; great-grandchildren, Micah Lee Sena, Dylan Sena, Adian Sena, Phillip Sierra, Nathaniel Sierra, Felicia Chavez, Emmanuel Marquez, Diego Acosta, Jr., Tatiana Acosta, Jacob Rodriguez, Elizabeth Martinez, Melanie Martinez and Zackary Martinez; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary Services will be held on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. also from St. Rose Church with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. As per Viola's wishes her body will be cremated and Interment of cremains will be held on Monday, September 30, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Serving as Pallbearers will be Anthony Martinez, Thomas Ulibarri, Leroy Ulibarri, Peter Ulibarri, Matthew Ulibarri, Haracio Martinez, Tomas Martinez, Pat Martinez, Faustin Sena, Herman Abeyta, Joseph Gutierrez, Alvin Maestas, Erminio Chavez, Jerry Gutierrez, Diego Acosta, Alfonso Rodriguez and Teddy Martinez. All services were entrusted to Chavez Funeral Home, 923 South 3rd Street, Santa Rosa, NM (505)472-3369.
