Modesto C."MC" Chavez March 15 ,1915 - October 1, 2002 Modesto C."MC" Chavez, 87, a life long resident of Peralta, NM, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 01, 2002. Mr. Chavez was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Eva G. Chavez on September 16, 1998. He is survived by his three daughters, Stella Apodaca and husband, Joe of Bosque Farms, Lydia Baca and husband, Alex of Peralta, and Ida Mae Rakes de Chavez of Albuquerque; and one son, Eddie M. Chavez and wife, Kathy of Peralta; eight grandchildren, Ramona Wolfe and husband, Ben, Ramon Perea and wife, Tina, Evangeline Rodriquez and husband, Jose, Richard Baca and wife, Carmen, Nanette Rosas, Joshua Chavez and wife, Jennifer, Craig Chavez and Suzy Wulf, Danielle Adkins and husband, Ronnie; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers; one sister; and many close friends and relatives. A viewing will be held Thursday, October 3, 2002 in the Romero Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 1:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Jim Price and Diann Newhouse officiating. Interment will be in the Peralta Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raymond Perea, Richard Baca, Isaiah Wolfe, Micah Wolfe, Joshua Chavez, and Craig Chavez. Honorary pallbearers will be Adenago Perea, Alejandro Hernandez, Martin Sanchez, Lalo Otero, and Gerardo Vargas. The New Mexico State Police Color Guard will provide the motor escort and Honor Guard.
