Obituary for Caird

Marilyn Frances Barrett Sweeney Caird, born February 14, 1928 in Fairmont, NE, gracefully passed away October 4, 2002, after a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. Preceded in death by loving husbands, John E. (Jack) Sweeney and Robert S. Caird. Survived by sister, Ruby Patton, Anchorage, AL; son and daughter-in-law, John and Sue Sweeney of Omaha, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anita Sweeney-Reid and Peter Reid of Rio Rancho, NM; and four grandsons, Pat, Mike, John and James. Marilyn's early years were spent on a farm in Fairmont, NE. She graduated from St. Mary's College, Norte Dame, IN. Following graduation, Marilyn spent 20 years as an educator in El Rito and Los Alamos Public Schools. Marilyn was an active member of DAR and Colonial Dames, as well as an avid bridge player and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Should friends desire, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 10, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos, New Mexico, Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 1399 Luisa Street, 984-8600.
