Obituary for Martinez

Salvador Martinez, age 63, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Thursday, October 17, 2002 while surrounded by his loving family. Salvador was born in Ponderosa, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque; and a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Albuquerque and in Canon, NM. He was United States Navy Veteran; he retired from the New Mexico Mounted Patrol; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, the great outdoors, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a very loving person who would always go out of his way to let you know how special you were. Salvador was preceded in death by his parents, Delfina and Federico Martinez; and a son at birth. He is survived by his loving wife, Tomasita R. Martinez of the family home; his children, Maria Martinez and special friend, Steven Gonzales, Emily Nicole Sena and husband, James, Jacob Lyle Martinez, and Isabelle Gutierrez and husband, Ralph; four grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Emilio G. Martinez, Juan O. Martinez and wife, Sophie, Eugene Martinez, Gary Martinez and wife, Mary; four sisters, Marcella Brownson, Mary Lou Sierra and husband, Filomeno, Dolores Paderes, and Roberta Hernandez and husband, Mario; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Salvador will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Final viewing will be Monday from 9:00 a.m. - 9:50 a.m. also at the church, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Adam Tolleson, Federick Martinez, Michael Martinez, Johnnie Chavez, Chris Chavez, and Mario Hernandez. Honorary bearers will be Jason Baca, Alex Sierra, Joseph Chavez, Matt Garcia, and Franklin Brownson. Funeral Services are entrusted to: Alameda Mortuary 9420 4th Street NW
