Obituary for Douglas

Michael Wade Douglas, D.V.M, 54, a resident of Cedar Crest, died Sunday, October 20, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Janeen Counts; son, Joshua Douglas; daughter, Kate Douglas, all of the family home. He was an outstanding father to his children. He was also survived by his mother, Mariwade Douglas of Albuquerque; and mother-in-law, Peggy Counts of Albuquerque. Dr. Douglas co-owned the Canyon Crossroads Animal Hospital with his wife, Dr. Janeen Counts. He was a lifelong learner, an avid amateur astronomer, fisherman and birdwatcher. He taught at Menaul School from 1999 to 2001. Dr. Douglas founded the East Mountain Telegraph in 1988. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Saturday, October 26, 2002, 10:00 a.m., at Mountainside United Methodist Church in Cedar Crest. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Talking Talons Youth Leadership, P.O. Box 2020, Tijeras, NM 87059. A memorial blood drive will be held in Dr. Douglas' memory at a later date.
