Joe Oliver Benavidez, age 68, beloved and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Monday, October 28, 2002, while surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Tome, NM to the late Hipolito and Maria Benavidez. He is survived by his loving children, Eddie Benavidez and wife, Christine, Mary Benavidez, Geraldine Martinez and husband, Pres, and Coeli Gonzales; his precious grandchildren, Joshua, Amanda Benavidez, Gabrielle Montoya, Vanessa Martinez and fiancée, Chad Morris, Jennifer Martinez, and Tara Trujillo; his great-grandson, Elijah Morris; four brothers, Joe, Sosimo, Victor and Danny Benavidez; two sisters, Dome Sanchez and Polly Trujillo and husband Eusebio; companions, Lucille Estrada and Helen Perea; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Joe will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Visitations will be held Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Joshua Benavidez, Pres Martinez, Danny Benavidez, Victor Benavidez, Anthony Sanchez, and Ronnie Gutierrez.
