Obituary for Shotwell

James H. Shotwell, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on November 16, 2002. James was born in Minnesota on February 12, 1921 to Daniel and Eva Enger Shotwell. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy. Prior to retirement, James spent his career as a Flight Engineer. He came to New Mexico from Greenlawn, Long Island, New York. James was a member of the Cross of Hope Lutheran Church. He was an avid car enthusiast and over the years was the owner of many classic cars. James was also very fond of steam trains and airplanes and enjoyed collecting them. He was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. James was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his treasured children, Alan and wife, Dell of Virginia, Anne and Brian Carroll of Vermont, Janet Cooper of Rio Rancho, James Jr. and Neal of Rio Rancho; brothers, Robert of Minnesota and Edward of Washington; his precious grandchildren, Frank, Steve, Suzanne, Sara, India, Katy, Ryan, Leigh Anne, Hannah, and Zachary; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Corrine, Henry and James; and a host of very special friends. A visitation for James will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. at Cross of Hope Church, 6104 Taylor Ranch Drive N.W., with Rev. Dale G. Bauer as Officiant. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Cross of Hope Building Fund, 6104 Taylor Ranch Drive N.W., Albuquerque, NM 87120-2639.
