Obituary for Woodward

Doyle, A. Woodward Sr., 88, A resident of Albuquerque passed away at the Veterans Nursing Center in T or C, NM on Friday, November 15, 2002. He was born to Jimmy Woodward and Eula Mae Clardy Woodward in Sturgis, Mississippi on July 21, 1914. He entered the Armed Forces in Mississippi and was transferred to New Mexico, where he made his home the remainder of his life. He served 34 years in the service of his country. He attained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force. He had the distinction of serving the United States in three wars, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was highly decorated having received 23 medals. His hobbies included shooting, hunting, fishing, gardening and was as accomplished guitar player. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as much as he enjoyed life itself. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War. He also, was a Boy Scout Master, Officer for his Neighborhood Association and served as Vice Chair Ward for 29 Democratic Party. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rose Woodward,; sister, Merle Roberts of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Lloyd Woodward of Norcross, Georgia; children, James (Woody) Woodward and wife, Betty, Doyle Woodward Jr. and wife, Donna, all from Albuquerque and Leon Woodward and wife, Jeanette from Phoenix, Arizona; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sandia Funeral Care. The Rosary will be Thursday, November 21, 2002 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will be led by Dee Flores of Risen Savior Catholic Community in the chapel of Sandia Funeral Care. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Risen Savior Catholic Community, Friday, November 22, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Jim McGowan, Celebrant.
