Obituary for Forsberg

Howard Klau Forsberg , 84, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, died Friday, November 22, 2002 at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice in Albuquerque, NM. Howard was born in Milwaukee, WI, where he began his 65-year career as a commercial illustrator and painter of western art. He worked in Chicago and New York during the 1940's before moving to Pasadena, Ca, in 1952. Howard headed a commercial art agency in Los Angeles and did illustrations for Mattel Toys, Hanna-Barbara and Disney Studios. He is the author and illustrator of one book, An Approach to Figure Painting for the Beginner. Howard returned east in 1966 as a teacher for the Famous Artists Schools in Westport, CT. He moved to New Mexico in 1977 to begin 20 years painting the scenes of the old west. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Forsberg Tinglof in 1983, and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean; daughters, Karen Benke and husband, Richard of Rio Rancho, Julie Forsberg of Rio Rancho; grandsons, Richard Kuntz, wife Amy, and daughter, Sanova of Denver, CO., Greg Kuntz and wife, Kimberly of Genoa, NV; granddaughter, Kathy Kuntz of Santa Ynez, CA., Howard will be remembered¯ by his family for his courage, humor and quick wit.
