Obituary for Gabaldon

Lloyd M. Gabaldon Sr., age 76, passed away at home December 1, 2002. He was born in Cerrillos, NM. and was raised in Gallup, NM. He served for 14 years in the US Navy USS Delta AR-9, as a Motor Machinist Mate 3rd Class, receiving a victory Medal during WWII, and worked for Sandia Base as a Field Commander for 26 years at the Nuclear Defense Agency. He was also Commander of the American Legion in Gallup, member of the VFW in Gallup, and current member of the American Legion Post 99. Lloyd loved music, dancing, and adored children. He was preceded in death by his father, Bonefacio Gabaldon; mother, Guadalupe Gabaldon; and brother, Albert Gabaldon. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Viola Gabaldon; six daughters, JoAnn Garcia and husband, Terry, Shirley Rael and husband Larry, Jeanette Salazar and husband, Daniel, Nancy Sherman and husband, Bill, Henrietta Trujillo and husband Tim, and Lucy Lozano. Lloyd was the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Memorial Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW. A memorial rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2002. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Thursday, December 5, 2002, with burial following at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST.
