Obituary for Gonzales

Orlando Gonzales Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away Monday, December 9, 2002 at the age of 71. Orlando was not only a man of God but a blessing to those that knew him. Even in his serious illness, Orlando showed graciousness and love to all. Orlando was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Gonzales; his parents, Lorenzo Gonzales and Pilar Madrid; and brother, Augustine Gonzales. Orlando is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sofia Gonzales, who took loving care of him until his passing with the assistance of his special brother-in-law, Nestor Chavez of Alameda. Orlando is also survived by his children, Orlando Gonzales Jr. and his wife, Rita, Suzanne Anaya and her husband, Jerry, all of Tome, Debbie Weaver of Los Lunas, Lynda Gonzales of Chicago, Ill; Richard Gonzales of Rio Rancho, and special granddaughter, Anita Weaver of Los Lunas. Orlando was deeply loved by his eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Gonzales and wife, Liz and Edmond Gonzales and wife, Ann; and one sister, Celia De La O and husband, Frank. His beautiful smile and tender spirit will be greatly missed. A viewing will be held in the Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at 5:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Bosque Farms on Thursday, December 12, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. with interment following at Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Orlando Gonzales III, Salomon Gonzales, David Weaver, Nestor Chavez, Jason Serda, Sam Montoya, and Ruben Chavez. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM 87002.
