Obituary for Hawkins

Dolores Vigil Hawkins, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2002. She had recently moved back to Santa Fe. Dolores was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Moriarty, NM; also a member of the Altar Society. Dolores retired from the New Mexico Highway Department in 1969. She married Ernest Hawkins and moved to Moriarty where she lived for 33 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hawkins; her parents, Meliton Vigil, Sr. and Guadalupita Rael- Vigil; her sisters, Annie Romero, Matianna Taylor, and Lucy Barreras; her brother, Meliton Vigil, Jr. She is survived by her brother, Ernest Vigil, and his wife, Anna Mae; her sister-in-law, Yolanda Vigil; her niece, Olinda Garcia; and many other nieces and nephews. Dolores is also survived by her daughter, Dorothy Peterson and her husband, Duke; their children, Anne Peterson and John Peterson, wife, Louise and their children, Kevin and Kate. A Rosary will be held Thursday. December 12, 2002. 4:00 p.m. at the Berardinelli Family Funeral services in Santa Fe, NM. Mass will be celebrated Friday, December 13, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM, with Father Anthony Martinez officiating. Burial will take place at the Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM, at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements were entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM. Grant G. Preston, Funeral Director. 505-832-6130.
