Obituary for Parker

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday December 19, 2002

Genevieve (Jennie) Parker, 58, passed away Saturday, December 14, after a very heroic 19-year battle with breast cancer. A 27 year resident of the Albuquerque/Cedar Crest area she is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dennis; son, Timothy of Albuquerque; niece, Heather Robsahm of Ventura, CA; brother, Steve Robsahm of Anacortes, WA. She was devoted to her family and friends. She was born in Santa Barbara, CA, to John and Irene Robsahm and graduated from Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo. Her love of the arts and crafts kept her involved in the community for many years with the Southwest Arts Festival and the NM Arts & Crafts Fair. She was always happy to give demonstrations to school children and displayed her work in galleries in NM, CA, OK, TX and MD. In recent years her passion for the game of golf resurfaced and she played with several ladies groups enjoying the rivalry and companionship until her illness prevented her participation. She and her love will be greatly missed by all of us. The footprints she has left behind are only those of joy and we know she is now pain free and safely with God. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, December 21st, 10:00 a.m., at The Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, south of Paseo Del Norte. Everyone is welcome as are flowers or a memorial contribution may be made to Central New Mexico Chapter (CNMC) of the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation, PO Box 92110, Albuquerque, NM 87119. In the end there is only a man and his wife, even if one of them is dead, the other is left, remembering. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
