Frances Edith Burns Bagley passed away Tuesday at age 91 in Albuquerque. Fran was born in Alberta, Canada. The first of four children, each born in a different Canadian railroad town as her father, Francis"Pop" Burns of England and mother, Edith Polonas of Illinois moved westward with the Canadian Pacific Railway. In the 1920s, they settled in Oregon first Salem, then Portland where she attended Franklin HS. Later, she married Donald K. Bagley and lived in Medford, Portland and in the 1950s Bend, Oregon where she helped in their oil distribution business. Fran enjoyed horseback riding and later golf, bowling, gardening, letter writing and organizing family gatherings and picnics over her many years in Oregon. 20 years after her husband's passing, she moved to Albuquerque in 1990 to be closer to her son's family. Here she enjoyed holidays and gatherings, especially with the Moses family. Francis is survived by her son, James D. and his wife, Joanne Moses Bagley; grandsons, Justin of Albuquerque and Jeremiah of Colorado; nephews, Jerry and David Wigg and their families. She will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Portland, OR with her husband, siblings, and young daughters, Susan and Patricia. She will be remembered as a once outgoing, enthusiastic and active woman quieted by the years, but always remaining strong willed and devoted to family and dear friends.
