Obituary for Williams

Kenneth Howard Williams, much loved by his family and friends, went to be with his Lord Jesus on Wednesday, March 15, 2001. Kenneth was born in Viola Township, Iowa on April 10, 1918. He was the oldest of three sons born to Roy Williams and Bell Dawson. Both of his brothers, Walter and Dallas preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter Linda Simons and husband, Jim; three grandchildren, Kenneth Simons and wife, Cindy, Troy Simons and wife, Ruth, Lawrence Simons and wife, Cara; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Simons and Abigail Simons; two nephews, Lee Williams of Betendorf, Iowa, and Dennis Williams and wife, Ronda; and grandnephews Anson and Brandon of Des Moines, Iowa; one niece, Vicki Denka and family of Clinton, Washington; one cousin Wynona King of Maning, Iowa; and a host of nieces and nephews from his extended family. His beloved wife, Glenelle, preceded him in death on February 7, 2001. Kenneth served his country as an Airplane Maintenance Technician during World War II in the United States Army 388th Air Service Squadron in the Pacific. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and received the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was honorably discharged on October 5, 1945. Kenneth retired from Sandia National Laboratories after 37 years of dedicated service. Kenneth was a member of the Del Norte Baptist Church. Memorial Services will be held Monday, March 19, 2001, 12:00 Noon at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Friends may visit Sunday, March 18, 2001 from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Chapel. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery following the Memorial Service.
