Obituary for Erickson

Ken Erickson was born October, 9 1925 in Ouray, Colorado to Bernerd W. Erickson. He was reared in the Montrose area, and was drafted into the U.S. Navy at the age of 18. He served in the South Pacific on the USS Portland, and was a participant in the Battle of Leyte Gulf near the Island Palu. After his discharge, he lived in Stockton California until 1954, when he moved to Uravan, Colorado. In 1958 he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and joined General Electric where they made airplane engines. He has been a resident of Midland since 1997. He married Nina Evalyn Snyder, July 22, 1943 in Aztec, New Mexico; she preceded him in death September 9, 1977. He was a member of the Machinist Union. Mr. Erickson was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Snyder; four brothers, Georgie Bennett, Pat Bennett, Harry Bennett, and Clifford Erickson; and two sisters, Dora Bennett and Lois McCannon. Survivors include two sons, Darwin, and his wife Bobbie Erickson of Sparks, Nevada, and Steven and his wife, Dianne Erickson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a daughter, Susan and her husband Michael Mooney of Midland; a sister, Patsy and her husband Bob Patterson of Boulder City, Nevada; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Memorial Services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 20, 2001 in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeffrey Lamb officiating. Arrangements are under the direction Ellis Funeral Home.
