Obituary for Lefton

Seymour C. Lefton, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Sunday, December 31, 2000. He is survived by his loving wife, Dione Danis; daughters, Linda Lefton of Albuquerque; Charna Lefton of La Paz, Bolivia; Irene Lefton of Santa Clara, CA; son, Lew Lefton and wife, Enid Steinbart; and granddaughters, Hannah Lefton, Natalie Lefton and Monica Lefton all of Decatur, GA. Seymour was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Clara. Seymour was born in Cleveland, OH. He is a World War II veteran. He received his B.A. in Psychology from UNM in 1950. Seymour was the owner of Happy Feet and the NM Orthopedic Shoe Shop for over 40 years. He was NM State Commander of the Disabled American Veterans. He was President of the local B'nai B'rith lodge and was Chairman of the B'nai B'rith District Youth Council. Seymour was a longtime member of Congregation Albert. He was one of the founders and President of the Prescription Footwear Association. He also served on the Boards of the American Diabetes Association and the Arthritis Association. He was appointed to and served on the NM State Board of Podiatry. Services were held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Congregation Albert with Cantor Jacqueline Shuchat-Marx officiating. Interment followed at Congregation Albert Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marc Kwasman, Lyle Greenberg, Norma Schmider, Martin Haynes, Richard Reinman, Alan Greenfeld, Neil Hansen, Charles Glass, Marvin Miller and Tom Pecos.
