Charles Davis, 82, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, January 2, 2001. He is survived by his children, Karen Louise Davis Welch, Charles Davis, Jr., and Joseph Davis and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Jacob Davis, Karl Joseph Drilling, Joetta Davis, Julie Davis, Matt Davis, Michelle Louise Egan, Stephanie Ann Van Skike, Christine Mae, Anna Marie, and Jessica Ann; great-grandchildren, Jonathon Silva, Stephanie Louise Silva, Ryan Davis Maier, and Cassidy Mae Davis; brother, Paul Davis; sisters, Celine Raff, Mary Kuhn, and Annie Walker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Davis. Charles was active in New Mexico politics since the age of 19. He served as Chief of staff for US Senator Dennis Chavez, and was a member of the 1st Congressional District Hall of Fame. He was a lifelong contributor to St. Anthony's Orphanage and a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Friday, January 5, 2001, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 6, 2001, 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1800 Martha NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
