Martha E. Wood June 22, 1911 - February 7, 2001. Martha is survived by her daughter, Carletta Moorhead and husband, Lamar of Mountainair, NM; her niece, Earlene Barnes of San Jacinto, CA, whom she raised; brothers, Vincent Crisp of Clayton, NM, Norman Crisp of Amarillo, TX; twin sisters, Lorrenne Rigsby of Austin, TX and Lorreta West of Littleton, CO; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, Carl J. Wood preceded her in death on November 5, 1988. Carl was employed by the J.W. Jones Construction Company for over 25 years. Also preceding Martha in death were two sisters, Leona Spore and Rosebud Bonjour and four brothers, Eugene, Kenneth, Abe and Wayne. Martha was the daughter of the late Ira Nain and Minnie A. Crisp, early Union County homesteaders. The Crisp family homesteaded in the Thomas Community a few years before statehood. Martha's mother returned to her parent's home in Oklahoma for Martha's birth. She was a longtime employee of J.C. Penny Department Store in Downtown Albuquerque during the 1950's. Later, Martha sold Avon products for many years. Having lived in Albuquerque since the late 1940s, she moved to Mountainair in 1995. She died at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque on February 7, 2001. Funeral Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Mountainair on Monday, February 12, 2001. Interment at Kayser East View Cemetery, Mountainair, next to her husband, Carl.
