Obituary for Russell

Vera A. (Grandma) Russell, 101, a resident of Albuquerque and Los Lunas since 1953, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Roscoe C. Russell Jr. of Los Lunas, James W. Russell and wife, Gerry of El Paso, TX and Rex Russell of Odessa, TX; daughters, Lahoma Cook of Amarillo, TX and Imogene Russell of Los Lunas; fourteen grandchildren, Carol, Paul, Beth, Donna, Sharron, Bonnie, Melva, Joanne, James Jr., Selinda, Dennis, Gretta, Michael and Susan; twenty two great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; six great-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Sr.; seven brothers and sisters; grandson, Sid; Aunt Emily; daughters-in-law, Tully and Donna, and sons-in-law, Doyle Bagwell, Woody Cook and Bill Startor. Vera was born on Indian Territory and moved to western Oklahoma in a covered wagon. She then moved to Kansas to go to school. She married her husband in 1919. She worked as a cook manager in Las Vegas Public Schools, Albuquerque Public Schools and the Ghost Ranch. She was a member of Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church. Services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church, 25 Wesley Road, Peralta, NM, with Rev. Joe Wood officiating. Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Masonic Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Sunday, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
