Obituary for Atkinson

Josephine Foster Atkinson passed away June 10, 2001 in Boulder, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willim W. (Bill) Atkinson. She is survived by her sons and their wives, William Jr. (Carol) of Boulder, Colorado, Richard (Margaret) of Jenison, Michigan; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was born in Byers, Texas, on November 7, 1912 and grew up in that state. In 1930 she moved to Albuquerque where she met her future husband. They were married for 59 years. She attened Amarillo Junior College and was an active member of the First Congregational Church, the Women's Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, the Opti Mrs. Club, the Progress Women's Club, and was a member of the board of the Albuquerque Museum in its formative years. Her favourite hobby was painting. Her husband said of her,"Jo's most important activity, of course, as it always has been, is spreading kindness." A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church on Saturday, July 7 at 11 a.m. officiated by the Rev. Randy Beckwerth. Memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Museum
