Obituary for Sanchez

Philip C.U. Sanchez, 80, a lifelong resident of Mora, New Mexico passed away on Wedneday June 27, 2001 following a brief illness. He was born in Mora, NM on March 27, 1921 to Philip N. Sanchez and Emma L. Strong and was united in marriage to Evangeline Arellano on November 2, 1946 at St. Gertrude's Parish in Mora, NM. Philip is a Veteran of World War II where he served his duty in the US Navy. He attended NMSU where he studied Agriculture Science and acheived an endorsement in Life Science and Secondary Educaton. Philip was also an educator at the Mora Public Schools. Philip is preceded in death by his son, Charles Anthony; father, Philip N. Sanchez; mother, Emma L. Strong Sanchez; and sister, Juliette E. VanSicklen. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Evangeline Sanchez of the family home in Mora, NM; sister, Patricia; daughter, Phyllis Martinez and husband, John; sons, A. Louie, Philip G. and wife, Eliza and Pat D. Sanchez. Grandchildren: Gary Martinez, Greg Martinez and wife, Rose, Scott Martinez and wife, Jeannean, Gus and Charles Sanchez, Pat A., Jessica and Jackie Sanchez. James and Estevan Sanchez. Great grandchildren: Shelby, Kody, Baylee, and Mackenzie Martinez. Carlos and Alysha. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday July 1, 2001 from St. Gertude's Catholic Church in Mora, NM. Father Tri will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Monday July 2, 2001 also at St. Gertrude's Parish. Internment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with a service delivered by the Navy Reserve Unit at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary, Greg and Scott Martinez, Charles, Pat A., Jessica, Jackie and Estevan Sanchez.
